Floods in and around the Spessart

Four months after the 100-year flood many people in Germany fear another wave of flooding events. In southern and eastern Germany many streams and rivers rose dramatically and flooded the shores. In many places inundation warnings were posted. The situation was also tense in the Bavarian Spessart. Besides heavy rainfall the low-pressure system "Calvann" also brought strong winds reaching hurricane force.

In the coming days, almost all regions can expect and hope for a weather change and easing pressure, as no heavy rains are forecast.
