Baltic Herring with potatoes

(for 6 persons)

roughly 2 kg of potatoes

roughly 500 g of Baltic herring


White sauce

50 g of butter

60 g of wheat flour

1 l of milk


Onion sauce

3 dl of water

200 g of butter

4 onions sliced into rings

 

Wash and halve the unpeeled potatoes, and place them into boiling water. After the potatoes have boiled for a few moments, place fresh or salted herrings on top of them. After the potatoes are ready, pour out the water. Serve with either white or onion sauce.

Place the potatoes and the Baltic herring on a tray and pour the sauce over them.
