Landsantikvarien is the authority in the County Museum of Halland responsible
for cultural heritage management.
Our task is to protect and develop features of value and importance to the
cultural heritage which are to be found around us and in the cultural landscape,
in towns and cities and in the countryside. We do so in the firm conviction
that a good cultural environment is an important precondition for a good living
environment and for the favourable development of society.
Private individuals are also welcome to turn to us with questions concerning
matters such as building conservation and archaeology.
Landsantikvarien consists of two units. In the archaeological unit we work
with investigations of ancient monuments and cultural landscapes from the Ice
Age down to the present day. In the building conservation unit we naturally
work with the care of buildings, but also with a great many other matters concerning
planning and building. Our successful work with building conservation in Halland,
particularly through the Halland model, has led to a number of international
assignments and commitments. We have therefore recently set up an international
department to work parallel to the Landsantikvarien.
