9:00 A transect through the cultural landscapes of northern Germany - research and monuments on the Geest and in the Marshes of Dithmarsch

Field trip to the AÖZA project area, archaeological monuments and special landscapes in southern Dithmarschen. Headed by Dr. Volker Arnold, Dr. Dirk Meier and Dipl.-Prähist. Rüdiger Kelm

Excursion route: Albersdorf - AÖZA (Soil aufschluss) - burial mound field "Menni ful Bargen" - Sarzbütteler Schanzen - Hochäcker and Kratt by Bargenstedt - Meldorf - Marschhufen-settlement Barlt - Busenwurth/Excavation site of the RTC - oldest dyke line to Wöhrden - Heide (ca. 12:30 lunch break: possible departure from the Station at Heide) - Geest-fringe settlement and Wurtenreihe at Tiebensee - early medieval castle rampart "Stellerburg" - traces of peat bog colonisation near Schlichting - peat bog and frühneuzeitliche Schanzanlage "Tielenbrücke" at Schalkholz - Albersdorf.
